High Risk Obstetrics

As if there aren’t enough challenges in a “normal” pregnancy. Sometimes, the line between low risk (normal) and high risk obstetrics is not all that clear but we know that women with high-risk pregnancies need even more support. And we are ready to provide whatever support you need throughout your entire pregnancy through to your 6 week postpartum visit.

There are many conditions that make a pregnancy high risk. If you have one or more of them you need to know that, in addition to all the “routine” care that we will provide (click on obstetrics), we will discuss a unique plan for you and your baby which often includes more frequent visits, ultrasounds, and blood tests. Dr. Bailey maintains close ties with John Hunter Hospital, so Maternal Fetal Medicine and Neonatal Intensive Care support are readily available should their input be sought at anytime during the pregnancy.

A high-risk pregnancy often needs delivering earlier than normal. This topic will be discussed in detail with you and your partner on several occasions throughout your pregnancy so that you have as much time as you need to ask any questions about D-Day including the how, when and why.

If it would put you more at ease before “signing up”, we’d love you to come in…. even it’s just for a chat. Call our receptionist to make the arrangements.
